Ambient meditative improvised music.

Tomoko Miyata improvises on waterbowls, a self-invented percussion instrument made of Chinese porcelain bowls filled with water, inspired by an instrument of carnatic music (south india), Jalatarangam. The pure and delicate melodies are live-sampled and slightly processed by Gilles Aubry to
create new layers of sound mixed with the original ones.
They come together with a highly meditative music which illusion of
polyphony generates a sensation of pleasant vertigo.

Born in Japan, Tomoko Miyata studied classical and jazz piano in Japan and
NYC. Then she worked in Tokyo as a jazz pianist and electro-acoustic
musician and now lives in Paris where she started with her waterbowls
instrument.

Gilles Aubry is a Swiss sound artist & computer musician based in Berlin
since 2002. In his sound work he uses field recordings, improvisation and
generative techniques to create environmental compositions at the border of
space representation and musical abstraction.

His work has been released on Creative Sources, Cronica Electronica,
Schraum, Conspiracy, Sound Implant and broadcasted on Frameworks
(resonance.fm, London), giant Ear)) (NYC), Sound of Space (Radio Zero,
Lisbon) and Radio Inkorrekt (Berlin).
